We did not know until after we arrived in Johannesburg for the Arts Alive Festival that we would be doing kite making workshops with schoolchildren. We managed to find a hardware store and purchase polythene sheet, sticks, tape and thread and two kite making sessions followed.

We flew the Parafoil on a short line at Alexandra in the school yard.

Almost 30 years after the event Lisa found some prints and slides.

It was an attentive and enthusiastic class, only slightly overwhelming!

The sleds did actually fly quite well but I cannot remember how we devised the 'plan'.

We had the parafoil to hand and the demonstration flight was well received!
