Portsmouth, 27th - 28th July 2024
Saturday 27th July
Thanks to Helen Ribchester for these images of the full team on Saturday morning.
It was a great start to the event after getting the team kit and other kites prepared close to the monument.
Thanks to Marian Linford for these images from a slightly different perspective on Saturday morning.
We had set up the 3m Rokkaku kites and also the Jørgen Møller Hansen Nine Squares 1993.
We flew the newly made 1993 Decs Pin Kite followed by the 3m Rokkakus.
In the background is a 'Caribbean' Hexagonal Kite which was made and being flown by a young man at great height and with considerable flier input.
The three Jørgen Møller Hansen Rokkakus were flown in close proximity in a slowly changing pattern.
There was a little cloud in the sky but sometimes the backgroud was completely blue!
The Jørgen Møller Hansen Nine Squares 1993 kite was launched but did not settle and was pulling harder than on the previous flight at Cervia.
Saturday 27th July, Kite Festival Benefit Auction, Tin Box contents, 120 kites.
Sunday 28th July
Sunday morning was a repeat performance in some respects but the focus was really on the team flights in the arena.
Martin and Marian were on site early!
Later in the day Simon Dann captured a video of the team which is available at the site below. (The soundtrack has been overlaid for copyright reasons.)
