(13:22) The Flare Stack from 1987 needed a small temporary repair before it could be flown. One of the bridle fins had not been re-sewn after the Blackheath accident.
There was just enough wind to keep the stack airborne and we were eventually able to use an extended flying line.
(14:00) Special thanks to Marian Linford for these images against a moody sky!

(15:40) Having flown the 1987 Flare Stack first the 1986 Flare was flown with a test tail attached to the fitting point that Jørgen had set in the trailing edge of the sail.
When the kite had been flown previously it had felt somewhat unruly but with the tail in place it flew sedately.
The plan was to try the 1988 Flare with a tail as well.

(16:31) The 1988 Flare had no fixing points for tails so two loops were sewn in place on the field by Jacob.

(17:08) There was some discussion about the merits of having two tails on the 1988 Flare and it may be that the Nine Squares 1993 provides a good example!
