The bridle needed re-building and some lines replaced. New connecting rings in stainless steel were fitted and the overall profile was measured, for the record. This was the second flight after the work was completed. (The first was on the previous weekend at Blackheath.) It was not possible to remove the rust marks from the sail that are visible in this image.

A secondary tow line was set on the parafoil and used to bring the kite back into the designated area and land it when it became apparent that the line loading was uncomfortably high.

Jake decided to fly the smaller parafoil. Ashley helped with the launch building the cells at the edge of the window.
Jake did not last very long.
It does not take long to remember our friend.
Jake flew this kite from the bridle at Washington Tyne and Wear in 1991 alongside Jørgen as illustrated in Wolfgang Schimmelpfennig's book

Blackheath, London 11th October 2020.
The project today was to fly the two parafoils together. We started with the larger 1991 kite on about 50m of 4mm braided spectra. Once we had it in the air and it appeared settled we set about launching the smaller 1990 kite which was flown from the same ground anchor.
We did manage to capture a short section of flight on video and also some of the preparation of the kite sail for launch.
