The five 1991 Rokkakus by Jørgen Møller Hansen have come together and were flown for the first time today.
All five kites have the same lightweight wind frames made out of spiral wound carbon from Revolution, SLE spines and four wrap horizontals.
The wind conditions were near perfect and so the kites did not need to be worked in the sky. This was good because the fliers were not all experienced with flying large rokkaku kites.
The fliers were David, Helen, Michel, Ode, Ashley with Felix on the camera switching with Ashley at some point.
Team Flying 27th April
When the images from this session were reviewed it became apparent that there was 'another performance' involved whereby a group of heavily disguised people delivered Romney Johnstone onto the flying field so that he could get a close look at the kites!
Due to a slight accident Romney may have been 'hit' by a kite, the lesson being, 'don't fly kites close to people'!
A close encounter with other photographers on hand.
There appears to have been quite a lot of air pollution in the distant views but up above the kites sparkled in the sunshine...
The fliers in this session were Connor Doran, David Hathaway, Ode Yssée, Lynn Foster, Sébastien Clarke, Helen Ribchester, Jim Foster, Chris Goff, Philippe On Web and Ashley Mottram
The extra two kites 'dark yellow' and orange belong to David Hathaway.
In 1992 five original Rev1s were made, the sixth orange one was a later addition. 12 Not Zens were made in the 1992 design in 2022.

Ashley and Philippe keeping the demo space occupied.
Dick Toonen had started to build the drum kites here as it was too far from the other end of the single line field.
I think that we all took part in his first presentation.
The 2008 Decs set needs some further adjustment as there are a few loose link lines and the final two kites are not engaging fully.
