Inside Euston Station.

I got an alert suggesting that a further notification would be sent before the public announcement of the Platform Number.

That did not actually occur but there was no scramble and I was a bit surprised to find that coach H was labelled First Class.

So it was 'wide' seats but not the actual First Class service!

A comfortable journey followed and as I recall the train arrived in Manchester on time.

Saturday morning, breakfast overlooking the River Irwell.

It was raining quite heavily most of the morning but I had planned a short walk to the The Science and Industry Museum. Just across the road was this building which looks as if it was a market of some sort but it is now undergoing change of use. It reminded me of the Frank Lloyd Wright station building at Nikko in Japan.

Just across the road it looks as if The Science and Industry Museum is expanding extensively taking in the Liverpool Road Station area all the way down to Water Street.

I walked up to The Peoples History Museum but decided against visiting and made my way back down to the Aviva Studios building and then round to Potato Wharf and back onto Liverpool Road past the station building again.

The Station Agents House on the corner of Liverpool Road and Water Street has been completely refurbished.

I had wondered if this isolated pillar was part of the original Manchester/Liverpool railway bridge. The entire bridge is actually Stephenson's Bridge and is a listed building. 'This is an 1830 stone railway bridge crossing the River Irwell. It is of special architectural and historic interest due to its early date, intactness, and design by George Stephenson, the nationally renowned railway engineer.'

I had a lunch appointment at the hotel at 1:00pm.

Then there was supper at the venue before the performance.

The railway arches are incorporated into the building.

On Sunday morning I walked to the Whitworth Gallery and then took a rest in the cafe.

Turned and looked over my shoulder to find that the Anya Gallacio 'Tree' sculpture was close at hand.

The original Manchester University building and Manchester Museum are quite a sight.

Quay Street was interesting for all the old 'corporate' buildings.

Monday morning and the train left on time but was delayed at Stoke on Trent for a little over half an hour. Arrival at Euston was eventually just under an hour late due to a broken track causing slow transit and the flooding preventing the use of an alternative route. Euston Station was in chaos!
