We took the JR train from Kyoto to Nara. Leaving the station we walked east along Sanjo dori street past Nanen-do and then the Sarusawa Pond where the terrapins were posing on a log.
Nanen-do, Buddhist temple.
Tokon-do, Buddhist temple.
I think that we did pass Todai-ji Shoro (Bell Tower) but do not have an image in this set.
This may be a view from Todai-ji Nigatsu-do but I do not have an exact location reference.
The very large roof in the distance is the Tōdai-ji temple.
Tōdai-ji temple.
Todai-ji Shichijunoto Sorin is outside the temple enclosure appearing behind a small gateway.
The interior of the giant Tōdai-ji temple was filled with sculptural figures including the very large bronze buddha.
While putting these images together I remembered that on the train back to Kyoto we sat in the front just behind the drivers compartment and watched his performance of gestures pointing to signals and acknowledging permission to proceed!
