15th-18th October.
There were three radiators not fitted in the first installation week as the wrong sizes had been delivered.
The installation was scheduled for Friday 18th October.
On the 18th October one radiator was not fitted due to being oversize having been re-measured at the initial installation and ordered on that basis.
The electrician due to install the immersion heater supply cabling did not arrive.
Sunday 27th October.
There was an exercise in finding the button which was under the pipe insulation prior to the loft work. The message eventually found was that a firmware update was required.
In the loft, after an initial clear-out of empty boxes taking care not to disturb the abandoned home of previous residents, the first two rolls of additional 20cm insulation were laid.
30th October-1st November.
On Wednesday 30th October the final radiator was due to be installed but an ordering issue meant that it did not arrive. Nor did the electrician who was due to install the power supply for the immersion heater. However the digital firmware upgrade was applied and so remote monitoring and control via an iPhone app is now operational.
On Wednesday 30th October an attempt was made to fill the gaps left by the electrician on the cable route through the outside wall to the heat pump unit.
Access is an issue but I suspect that another application of expanding filler, inside and out will resolve the issue.
The immersion heater cabling was run on Friday 1st November.
Saturday 2nd November.
We set out to take some timbers from the cellar to use to bridge joists in the loft but evidence of woodworm suggested this would not be a good idea. The timbers were consigned to the tip later in the day.
The next roll of insulation was installed in the loft.
There are some more canvases, in the loft, which sadly will also be consigned to the tip, sight unseen, further to the three rolls today, Saturday 2nd November.
The blinds from Eton Place back in the early 1980s have been found new homes.
Friday 8th and Saturday 9th November.
On Friday 8th November the final radiator was fitted and a further attempt was made to 'fill' the pipe and cable route through the outside wall.
The inline valves in the radiator supply pipes were found to be leaky and were discarded.
This visitor probably arrived by a different route!
On Saturday 9th November further items including the rolled canvases were removed from the loft and some were dispatched to the 'new' household tip in Leyton.
Another roll of insulation was applied and the space is ready for the fifth of the six rolls.
The 'walkway' boxes are ready to be placed.
The loft space had been used as a place to put things that might have been useful to have to hand but essentially had been 'forgotten about'!
The box of kite string actually contained some useful reels of cotton thread.
There was also a miniature version of a rokkaku kite sail that was made for an event or collection.
Apart from the oil painted canvases that simply had to be 'discarded' there were some packages of drawings and works on paper that I am glad to see.
This does mean that the kite bench is somewhat overrun just at the moment!
Along the way there were some system messages; some repeatedly.
This one 27th October.
This message meant that there was a loss of pressure and that the mains supply would need to be opened to re-pressurise the building circuit.
This one 9th November.
Before re-pressurising.
5th November.
After re-pressurising.
5th November.
This rather drastic message appeared a couple of times over the weekend 26-27th October but did not seem to impact the system. It was due to incorrect set-up in the control panel!
The 100l buffer tank was removed on Tuesday November 12th and an inspection of the system was undertaken. A small leak was found at a compression joint adjacent to the pressure cylinder which was tightened by 'half a turn'!
Two pressure release valves were opened having been left in the closed position previously.
Saturday 16th November.
On Saturday 16th November a few boxes were removed and the remaining ones consolidated close to the hatch.
The fifth roll was laid up to the hatch and the remains of the roll were put in the cleared area at one end of the space for the final roll.
Sunday 8th December.
The 240 x 12cm decking planks were purchased a week ago but today I decided to get a couple more and then set about installing the first four.
They are just tacked to the top of the cross beams.
The planks will take my weight without a problem so installing them became easier as the process progressed.
All the remaining boxes will be accommodated on this 'shelving' which will allow us to finish the 20cm insulation layer on top of the existing 10cm from way back...
Saturday 14th December.
The remaining planks were fitted and the main remaining area was filled with insulation.
All the boxes were placed on the new decking area.
The boxes identified for disposal are close to hand as are the kites that need to be dealt with accordingly.
There are some painting stretcher elements that need to be given to a deserving 'artist'!
