Back at the Royal Academy initially today, 22nd July, grabbing details as possible...
The small drawing by Anselm Kiefer from 1963 caught my attention.
Vincent Van Gogh Field with Irises near Arles, May 1888 oil on canvas 54 x 65 cm
A detail from 'the other painting' The Last Load
(Das letzte Fuder), 2019, where for some reason I do not have a full image!
Emulsion, oil, acrylic and straw on canvas
...and onother detail from Starry Night.
Over at White Cube in Mason's Yard there are more details to acquire... in a selection of sunflower and wheatfield paintings.

The 'underpainting' for these canvasses is often very specific and the palette selected strange and complex. The interactions between the 'ground' and the materials applied to it are 'very tight' visually.

The gallery at Mason's Yard is well lit but was devoid of visitors today compared to the RA Exhibition.
There may be a reason for the low level lighting at the RA!
I shall make a point of re-visiting this exhibition in the next couple of weeks!
